A recipe for a happy balanced dog

Every dog is an individual but there are many general reasons dogs misbehave. Sometimes as pet parents we fail to provide our dogs with what they need.

🐾Give enough controlled exercise- Dogs have a lot of energy and need to do something with it! And by letting your dog into the back yard is not enough. Better ideas for exercise are brisk walks, hikes to new places, doggie play dates, blow bubbles for them to chase, or get them into a dog sport

🐾Provide them with mental stimulation- More and more experts are realizing that dogs should work for their meals. There are tons of puzzles, dispensers and interactive active toys. Scent games are amazing as well. ( Giant Frozen Ice Cubes, Bobbing for Carrots, Hall Ball, Fetch)

🐾Be their leader: Your dog will feel more secure having a consistent and benevolent leader. Leadership does not mean intimidating, jerking, pinning or hitting your dog. Instead, ask your dog to sit for meals, water, to be petted, to get their leash on or before you throw their ball.

🐾Socialize them- Make sure your dog has positive experiences with men, women, children, dogs, cats, in the car, at the vets, and on walks.

🐾 Appropriate chewing options- dogs need to CHEW! They need good quality dog food with little fillers. They need chew toys like Kongs, Nylabones, Galleleo bones, and sterilized bones. Fill and FREEZE them!

🐾Consistency!!! This is a big one!! Your family must agree on the rules and be consistent. You cannot allow your dog on some furniture but then another family member does not. You cannot allow your dog to jump on you or mouth you in play and expect them not to do it to guests.
